Rising mist, Loch Morlich

Rising mist, Loch Morlich

Commended in the 2011 UK Landscape Photographer of the Year Competition. This print formed part of the exhibition at the National Theatre in London December 2011 - January 2012, and also appeared in the book of the same name.

This image was a case of right place, right time, and a lot of luck. The day started off looking very unproductive, and I was close to calling it a day and going for coffee. The sun gradually appeared, and mist swirled round the loch for at least 30 mins, the scene constantly changing as the density of the mist altered. I chose this composition as I liked the shape of the ice patterns and rocks.
